Tribal Cultural Heritage Monastery and Monastic Tours in Sikkim Tour Details

Sikkim has a long cultural history of Lepcha Tribes, Limboo Tribes, Nepali Tibes, and Bhutia Tribes. We have the Tibetology Institute at Gangtok - Namgyal Institute of Tibetology for monastic studies and the approach. The peace seekers and dharmic religious visitors are most welcome to experience the Tribal Cultural Heritage of Sikkim, by visiting different monasteries across the state. The Monastic tours can be done in one go in all six districts of Sikkim - Gangtok, Mangan, Gyalsing, Namchi, Pakyong, and Soreng. 

Day-1 The guests will be received and greeted at the Bagdogra or Pakyong Airport. After the reception, we will take them for lunch at a nearby restaurant where they can enjoy a connoisseur of good food. The towns are busy, but sooner we will drive through the calm and pristine landscape of Sikkim Himalayas. The luxuriousness and magnificence will bold the tourists by offering mesmerizing views and cultural heritage beholding at every corner of Sikkim. The guests will arrive at Gangtok Hotel, which offers the best hospitality. Overnight at Hotel at Gangtok.
Day-2

Today after breakfast we will go on a spiritual and cultural journey; where we will cover Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, Rumtek Monastery, Enchey Monastery, and Do Drul Chorten. The historical visits and the stories associated with every monastic visit in Sikkim with us; will be thoroughly explained by the guides accompanying the group of spiritual seekers. When our monastic visit at Gangtok is over, we will drive back to the monastery-themed Hotel at Gangtok. Overnight at Hotel at Gangtok.

Day-3

Yesterday's spiritual journey will make your mind angelic and divine. After breakfast, we will check out from the Gangtok Hotel, drive to Ravangla, and check in at the hotel close to the Buddhist Temples and Monasteries in Ravangla. This natural history cultural and monastic tour will take you to the epitome of the Tibetan Buddhism Paragon - Tathagata Tsal, Ravangla. Since we will be staying close to Tathagata Tsal Monastery in Ravangla, thus we can explore it on foot and alleviate ourselves from the offenses in our lives. Overnight at Hotel at Ravangla.

Day-4 Today after breakfast we will go for historical monument visits in South Sikkim on a spiritual journey. We will cover Ralong Gompa, Doling Gompa, and Namtse Ngadag Monastery in the morning and will visit Samdruptse, and lastly, the Secret Cave -  Sharchog Be Phug. After the visit, we will come back to the Hotel. Overnight at Hotel at Ravangla. P.S. We would try the meeting with HH Gyalsab Rinpoche the head of the Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Our visit to the priestly places will be the following Heritage Sites in Sikkim.

Day-5 Our cultural heritage journey will resume in the morning by 8 AM from Ravangla Hotel just after breakfast and will drive to Yuksom - the oldest capital of Sikkim (1642 A.D). On the way, we will visit Khandro Sangphug (Cave of Dakinis) at Legship and will stop for a while, where you can spend your time for meditation. There are two more caves in the land - Bayul Demazong; the northern one is Lhari Nyingphug (also known as Ancient Cave of GOD - northern Bayul Demazong); the western cave is Nub Dechenphug (Cave of Happiness - western Bayul Demazong). The last two caves can also be added to the tour plan, but it requires a different set of itineraries. In the afternoon, we will also go to Tashiding Monastery. As per your timing, we will drive to Yuksom. Overnight we will stay at the Hotel at Yuksom. In short, today's visit will be at the following holy sites

Day-6 In the morning, just after breakfast we will drive to Dubdi Monastery, Kathok Lake, Coronation Throne. These places are inside the Yuksom village complex. Dubdi Monastery is the oldest architectural structure in the holy land of Sikkim. The monastery was built in 1641 A.D. and it is a protected campus under the Archaeological Survey Of India. The entire complex of Dubdi-Kathog Lake, Norbugang, Khecheopalri Lake, and Khangchendzonga National Park area is a UNESCO Heritage site, because of its cultural and natural history richness. Overnight at Hotel at Yuksom.

Day-7 As our Cultural Heritage Monastery and Monastic visit continues, today we will check out from Yuksom and go to Pelling. Two major historical sites to cover in Sikkim - Rabdantse and Pemayangtse. After check-in at the hotel, we will have lunch. After lunch, we will go to Rabdantse Ruins. Rabdantse was the second capital of Sikkim, after Yuksom. The Chogyals or the religious dharmic kings of Sikkim shifted their capital to Rabdantse in 1670 and ruled their territory from there; till the fall of the kingdom in 1814 (after being defeated by Gorkha Kings). Rabdantse as capital existed for 144 years. Later the capital had been shifted to Tumlong.  Pemayangtse is a monastery, that was built in 1647 AD and successive years had been converted to a monastery from a small Lakhang. Our cultural guide will explain the details. After the visits, we will return to the Pelling Hotel. Overnight stay will be arranged at Pelling.

Day-8 The historic and spiritual journey continues from Sikkim to Darjeeling, as we drive out of Pelling and head to the Queen of the Hills - Darjeeling. Sanga Choeling was established in 1965 by Kalu Rinpoche, who was a Kagyu Sect's Tibetan Buddist Lama. The philosophical basis of Buddhist practice was first reached the West by this scholar meditation master. Later, we will also visit the Gelukpa sect's monastery - Yiga Choeling in Ghum. Built-in 1875, this monastery is one of the oldest religious sites in the Darjeeling Hills. After the visit to the Monasteries in Darjeeling, we will head to the hotel. Overnight at Darjeeling.

Day-9 We will be staying two nights in Darjeeling. There are still some religious Buddhist Shrines to visit as per the itinerary. After breakfast, we will visit Dali Monastery - Dukpa Kagyud Monastery has worshippers from the Kagyu sect of Buddhists. This is one of the largest monasteries in Sikkim Darjeeling Landscape and houses a vast collection of books on Religious studies. It will take nearly 3 hours to visit this vast monastery. After lunch we will visit - Bokar Ngedon Chokar Ling Monastery at Mirik. We will arrive back at the Darjeeling Hotel by sundown. Overnight at the hotel in Darjeeling.

Day-10 The history and philosophical teachings of Buddhism will be thoroughly explained by our cultural guides when you are on a spiritual heritage monastery tour with us in Sikkim and Darjeeling. Today morning, after having breakfast we will drive to Kalimpong Hills from Darjeeling. This will take 2 hours to reach the town. After checking in and having lunch we will visit the close by monastery Zhan Dhok Palri and Gaden Tharpa Choeling. Zhan Dhok Palri is the Nyingma sect's school of religious studies. It houses 108 volumes of Kangyurs in Tibetan translation. The Rinpoche HH Nawang Kalpoche instituted the monastery of Gaden Tharpa Choeling, upon receiving the request from Bhutia and Tibetan merchants back in 1912. Overnight we will stay at the Kalimpong Hotel.

Day-11 Hope your visit will be devoutly religious throughout. We will check out from our hotel in Kalimpong and drive to Bagdogra as per the bookings of the guests' return flight.
